Day 58: The Fiascos and Blessings of a Tired Mama!

So, I think we all have those days... or weeks... or months... where it feels like life is running over us with a steam roller. This just happens to be one of those times for me. It's been one enormous fiasco after another, with a few rays of sunshine in between that I have clung to desperately.
Today, I brought both kiddos to the Doctor. After coughing and hacking for WEEKS now and battling sporadic fevers, I finally decided that this cannot possibly be just a cold.
AND IT'S NOT. Andy: Pneumonia! Anthony: Tonsillitis and an ear infection!
:( :( :( MY POOR BABIES!!! I feel so terrible that I let it go on this long, assuming it was just a bad cold. A lot of parenting guilt going on here!
Work has been fair, other than the table of 6 with a bill of over $50 that left me a $0.00 tip after complimenting me on my EXCELLENT service! But I was surprised at how easily I transitioned back into a waitress mindset. The hours are very doable, co-workers are easy to get along with, and managers are very gracious and understanding.
I had my first subbing assignment last week! It was on a Friday, and it was only a half day as school let out early due to travel time for an away football game, but it was a blast! Some of the kiddos tried to push my buttons, as all kiddos do, but most were very bubbly and cooperative. I loved interacting with them and re-learning science and "forces" with them!
I dropped my phone in the toilet! Yes, it finally happened. I have been putting my phone in my back pocket for some time now, even though I know it's a bad habbit. I went to the potty, forgot it was back there, and when I pulled down the ol britches, it plopped right into the potty (eeewwwwwwww).
YES, I pulled the phone from the potty (can't just leave it there!) with gloved hands haha. I immediately took it apart and shook the water out and dried all the components. After I had hand dried everything the best I could, while sobbing (literally), I put it back together and turned it on. The screen blipped and flashed at me in an epileptic fashion. I cried more and took my dying phone to hubby. "TURN. THAT. OFF!!!" he scolded. He then explained to me that I had probably fried it by turning it on while the inside may still be wet, therefore sending deadly currents throughout my beloved phone's delicate hardware. I cried more.
He took it back apart and put it in a bow of rice, which I thought was just an internet hoax that didn't really work. Two days later, he put it back together, and the ol champ started up with no issues and is working perfectly!! (ray of sunshine!) I cried again.
So this past week has been a lot of crying, and then a lot of moments of joy all mixed together. Crying. But smiling! Needless to say, I am exhausted.
So my boys are resting comfortably, and I have several things in the works for them. Anthony is back on track with his therapist, who has recommended a few natural supplements to try before prescribing medications for the ADHD. I am also going to try these for Andy, who is having trouble focusing at school, and having other psychological issues. It was recommended that he be re-evaluated for ADHD, but his insurance will not cover it at this time since he was only tested 10 months ago. However, we are in the process of getting him evaluated at Texas Children's in Houston due to other, more serious issues that have come up.
SO, as more things come up and develop, more blog posts will (hopefully) be going up here this week. Stay tuned!
Fiascos and JOY! That's the theme of my week.
Positive Vibes,
Stacy (WW)
